The Nigeria Democratic Congress has dismissed reports circulating online claiming that results had emerged from its primary elections, describing the information as false and misleading.

In a statement released on Thursday by the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu, the party clarified that its primaries are scheduled to take place on May 29, 2026, making any purported results invalid.

The clarification followed rumours alleging that activist Aisha Yesufu lost the party’s ticket for the Federal Capital Territory senatorial election.

According to the statement, no candidate could have emerged since the primaries had not yet been conducted.

“The Nigeria Democratic Congress wishes to notify the public that our party primaries are fixed for tomorrow, May 29, 2026.

“It is therefore unreasonable and impossible for any results or winners to have emerged before the exercise takes place.

“We urge Nigerians and party supporters to ignore the fake primary election results and misleading rumours currently being circulated. Any information that does not come from official party channels should be disregarded.

“NDC remains committed to conducting a transparent and credible primary process, and we encourage members and supporters to remain calm and avoid unverified reports,” the statement added.
