The Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Investment Promotion and Public-Private Partnerships, Jerome Green-Amakwe, says the state’s ongoing governance and development reforms are strengthening public confidence and drawing positive attention as Nigeria marks Democracy Day.
In a statement issued on Friday in Umuahia, Green-Amakwe described this year’s Democracy Day as particularly significant for Abians, noting that it reflects a new phase of accountable leadership, development, and people-focused governance.
According to him, Abia has emerged as a strong example of how democratic leadership can deliver tangible results, with residents increasingly optimistic about the state’s future.
He recalled that before 2023, the state faced major challenges, including poor infrastructure, weak public services, and slow economic growth, which fueled calls for a change in leadership.
Green-Amakwe said the election of Governor Alex Otti and his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, marked a turning point, ushering in reforms centred on transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery.
He noted that the administration has since implemented policies and projects aimed at rebuilding public trust and accelerating development across the state.
The governor’s aide also acknowledged the contributions of supporters, stakeholders, and grassroots mobilisers who played key roles in the build-up to the 2023 elections, saying their commitment laid the foundation for the ongoing transformation in the state.
He stated that the campaign structure was led by the late Nnanna Ngwu as chairman, while Acho Obioma served as Director-General, with coordinators across the state mobilising support for the movement.
Green-Amakwe further credited the administration’s progress to Governor Otti’s leadership style, which he described as strategic, disciplined, and focused on results.
According to him, the governor’s approach has strengthened public trust and reinforced confidence in the ability of government policies to drive meaningful development.
He added that Democracy Day provides an opportunity to recognise individuals whose efforts contributed to the state’s current progress, stressing that the achievements recorded so far are the result of collective contributions from government officials, stakeholders, and residents.
Green-Amakwe congratulated Governor Otti, Deputy Governor Emetu, members of the administration, supporters, and the people of Abia State on the occasion, while expressing optimism that the state’s ongoing reforms would continue to deliver positive results in the years ahead.
