Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following his emergence as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general election.
Sanwo-Olu described Tinubu’s emergence as a clear sign of the trust and confidence members of the APC still have in his leadership and direction for the country.
In a statement released on Monday through the Office of the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, the governor said Tinubu’s victory at the party primaries was well earned.
He also applauded party leaders, delegates and officials for conducting peaceful and organised primaries across the federation.
The statement, signed by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, praised the APC National Working Committee and state executives for ensuring the exercise went smoothly without major issues.
“I congratulate our leader and President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his emergence as the APC presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
“His victory once again shows the confidence party members across the nation have in his leadership and dedication to building a stronger Nigeria,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
The Lagos governor further noted that the party’s use of direct primaries reflected its commitment to internal democracy and inclusiveness by allowing members to actively participate in choosing candidates.
According to him, the process gave party faithful a stronger voice and reinforced democratic values within the APC.
Sanwo-Olu also commended Tinubu’s administration for taking bold economic decisions which he said were necessary to stabilise the economy and create a foundation for lasting development.
“Over the past few years, President Tinubu has made critical decisions aimed at repositioning the economy and securing long-term growth for the country.
“Leadership at crucial moments requires courage, vision and the readiness to make difficult choices for national progress,” he added.
Expressing confidence in the future, the governor said Nigerians would continue to support a leadership driven by courage, growth and sustainable development.
“The journey towards a better Nigeria continues, and together we will keep working to build a nation where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive,” he said.
The APC presidential primary forms part of the ruling party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The exercise was held on Saturday, while the final result confirming Tinubu’s emergence was announced on Sunday.
