The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has fixed June 12, 2026, as the deadline for the submission of technical and commercial bids by prequalified companies participating in the ongoing 2025 Licensing Round.
The commission announced the deadline in a notice shared on its official X account on Tuesday, urging all eligible bidders to comply with the requirements and timelines outlined in the licensing guidelines.
According to the NUPRC, submissions will close at 4:30 p.m. on the specified date, marking a crucial stage in the licensing process as investors compete for oil and gas assets across the country.
The commission advised interested stakeholders to obtain additional information through the official licensing round portal.
The bid submission phase follows the completion of the prequalification process, during which successful applicants were shortlisted and invited to proceed to the next stage of the exercise.
The 2025 Licensing Round is being conducted under the Petroleum Industry Act and forms part of the Federal Government’s efforts to attract investment, expand exploration activities and increase Nigeria’s oil and gas reserves.
The exercise, which commenced in December 2025, offered 50 oil and gas blocks made up of onshore, shallow-water, frontier and deep-water assets. The government expects the round to attract significant investment into the upstream petroleum sector and boost hydrocarbon production in the coming years.
Industry regulators have projected that successful development of the assets could unlock billions of barrels of oil reserves and increase daily production capacity over the next decade.
Meanwhile, the commission has also disclosed that preparations are underway for the 2026 Licensing Round following ministerial approval for the exercise.
The development highlights ongoing efforts by the regulator to sustain annual licensing rounds and strengthen investor confidence through a transparent and competitive process for the allocation of petroleum assets.
