The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of the Sara-Suka cult group and recovered weapons as well as substances believed to be illicit drugs during separate operations in Jos.
The arrests were confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Alfred Alabo, who said the operations formed part of ongoing efforts by the Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah, to tackle criminal activities and drug abuse across the state.
According to the statement, detectives attached to the Command’s Anti-Cyber Crime and Narcotics Unit arrested 18-year-old Adam Abdullahi of Yen Siminti, Rikkos, Jos, during an operation at Gengere.
Police said items recovered from the suspect included a double-edged knife, suspected cult regalia and substances believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine, popularly known as “ice.”
In another operation, officers attached to the Angwan Rogo Division arrested 20-year-old Khalifa Yusuf of Angwan Rimi, Jos, at the 011 Prayer Ground opposite the permanent site of the University of Jos.
Recovered items allegedly found in his possession included a knife and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
The police stated that both suspects remain in custody while investigations continue, adding that they would be charged to court after the investigation process is completed.
The Command reaffirmed its resolve to combat crime and criminal activities in Plateau State and called on residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Edo State Police Command also arrested two suspected cultists in Ohonre Community along Adolor College Road in Benin following reports of suspicious gatherings and movement of suspected cult members within the area.
