Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the outcome of the African Democratic Congress presidential primaries, alleging widespread irregularities and voter disenfranchisement during the exercise.
Amaechi, who spoke through a statement posted on his X account on Tuesday after the primaries, described the results being announced by the party as manipulated and lacking credibility.
According to him, he had made it clear before the exercise that he would only accept the outcome if the process was conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.
“Following reports of widespread voter disenfranchisement across several parts of the country during the ADC presidential primaries, I completely reject the fabricated results being released,” he stated.
The former Rivers State governor maintained that he would not endorse any process that failed to reflect the democratic principles the party claimed to stand for.
“I made it known from the beginning that I would only accept the results if the process was transparent, credible and fair, and I still stand by that position,” he added.
Amaechi further accused the party leadership of abandoning the ideals upon which the ADC presented itself to Nigerians as an alternative political platform.
According to him, the party was established to provide ordinary Nigerians with a voice and create a system founded on fairness, inclusion and accountability.
